2009/2010 Hunt:
We ran 100% on gun hunters the first two seasons and had just enough
snow and cold weather to put the deer on the foodplots big time. However, the
late season 2009/2010 was the most brutal weatherwise in the fifteen
years I've been outfitting in Iowa. The temperatures ranged from 5 BELOW
ZERO to
a frigid 40 BELOW ZERO for the entire January portion of the season and when
combined with 24" of blowing, drifting snow pushed with 35 mph
winds, hunting became an endeavor in survival rather than an enjoyable hunt.
Many of the main roads drifted shut on a daily basis and we needed
a snowmobile to get around on all the leases and to the foodplots. Many of the
bigger bucks started dropping their antlers early, apparently due to the
stress, something we've never run into before. We all survived and so did a lot
of the big bucks.

Hopefully it'll be another
fifteen years before this happens again!

You can now hunt game birds, waterfowl, small game and predators in Iowa
during your hunt, if time allows.
We take care of all applications and drawing procedures. The
deadline for all applications is the
first part of June with draw results available in late June.
Preference Point Information:
Several years ago the Iowa DNR started allowing prospective
non-resident deer and turkey hunters to
purchase a preference point directly without the hassle of having to put in for
a drawing in an over-
subscribed area to get a point.
This allows hunters to accumulate preference points for future hunts so they are
assured (as much as Iowa's
archaic licensing system allows) of getting an Iowa license when they are ready
to hunt Iowa.
At present, in ITWO's hunting area, one preference point virtually assures a
non-resident hunter a deer or
turkey license in archery or firearms seasons.
ITWO will handle applications for preference points for all prospective or
booked clients.
If you are contemplating a
future hunt with ITWO, get on the preference point purchase program NOW.
Preference point fee is $10.00.
PREFERENCE POINTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE DURING THE IOWA LICENSE DRAWING PERIOD OF
MAY AND JUNE.
Late season primitive weapons (archery/muzzleloader/handgun):
With the drawing power of our well established food plots,
the late season provides
an excellent opportunity for a trophy buck for muzzleloader or bow.
We are going
to keep this quality hunt limited to 3 hunters. So don't wait to book!
Drawing
for the late season is as close to a sure thing as the Iowa DNR allows.
Important information:
If you are born after
1/1/72 you must get a copy of
your hunter's safety card to us in order for us to apply for your license.
It must be
legible as we have to fax it to the licensing agency when we apply for your
license.
No exceptions.
Proof of a hunters safety course should be in your possession
while hunting with ITWO.
Centerfire Rifles
are not allowed for Iowa deer hunting.
